This series of colored drawings were developed from a number of location sketches depicting various views of the ruins of Bombay Beach on the Salton Sea.  In comparing the sketches I attempted to find a way to organize and unify them into a larger panoramic series. The consistent placement of the horizon line is the primary unifying factor.  In this work, I am attempting to depict a sense of expansive space and specific textures of forms in the landscape through a minimal use of materials, color and an economical use of picture space .  The drawings are watercolor, charcoal and pastel on museum board.  Each drawing measures 30" x 40".
