This series of colored drawings were developed from a number of location sketches depicting various views of Bombay Beach on the Salton Sea. In comparing the sketches I attempted to find a way to organize and unify them into a larger panoramic series. The same format and consistent placement of the horizon are two of the unifying factors. In this work, I am attempting to depict a sense of large open space and specific texture in the landscape through a minimal use of materials, color and actual picture space. The drawings are watercolor, charcoal and pastel on museum board. Each drawing measures 30" x 40". Details are shown below.
